Another TMI Post

Sooooooo ... we just got home from L&D. I started having low back pain like I get before a period and some pelvic pressure, so the doc told me to go to the hospital. We were there 4-1/2 hours on monitors. The baby is fine and I have a bladder infection, which they think is triggering my preterm labor. They gave me a shot of terbutaline, which stopped the contractions (and the heavy feeling I've had for a few weeks in my abdomen/pelvis is gone). And an RX for Macrobid, which we'll be filling first thing in the a.m. (too late tonight to do it). I am only dilated to a 1, and my cervix is high and thick still, so even though the spotting and cramping/contracting are concerning, they're not making much progress.

Still on pelvic rest. Yeah ... great.

Small Fry and/or her mom texted today to say school gets out next Wednesday. WTH? Last week, hubby hung up the phone under the impression that we wouldn't get her even for the summer. Even if we are allowed to go get Small Fry next week, I won't be able to make the trip. My sis and I are thinking my BIL should go with hubby, and Kiddo and I should stay with sis. Hubby hasn't said if he wants to do so yet since he thinks his ex is just jerking us around again. I just tried to call her and she didn't answer, so we'll see.

There's the update. I'm going to eat something and go to bed. Those hospital beds are extremely uncomfortable.

Friday Fave Five!!!

There is TMI in this post. Sorry.

1. Watermelon. I've eaten most of a seedless one this week, starting Monday at the in-laws ... they sent it home with us and I chopped it into chunks yesterday (I know ... it didn't take very long though). I've eaten a ton of it, loving the juicy goodness.

2. The swimming pool. I can't get it in right now, but did take kiddo earlier this week. Oh my gosh ... the water taking the weight of the baby off my back, hips, and knees ... heavenly. I stayed in only for about an hour, and did not want to get out. But (TMI) I had to pee so I had to get out, and then realized I had a slight sunburn, so I stayed out. I did have a bath last night in our huge garden tub, and it helped too. Not as much as the pool, but a lot.

3. My new company. I love them -- they just want me to be okay health wise and were great about the bedrest stuff, telling me not to overdo, etc. Never would have happened at my old job.

4. My family. My wonderful husband and child, picking up some of the slack from mom not being able to do much. He helped make dinner last night and she cleaned up her end of school mess today, plus changed the dishwasher. And got her own breakfast and our lunch (thank you Stouffer's). And DisGrace -- when I asked her for books to be reading, she sorted through a pile and will get them to me somehow this weekend.

5. Our realtor. I emailed her yesterday about bedrest this weekend, and told her hubby said no showings. She agreed and said she was feeling very protective and wouldn't let anyone bug me. Well. When someone called today to show the house (as we both figured would happen), she told him no. He insisted she ask me anyway, and I said no, too. We agreed early next week would be better.

Even with some stress regarding Small Fry and her mom today, I'm feeling better. I *think* the bleeding stopped, and I haven't been having contractions like I was. Kiddo keeps me in line, saying, "aren't you supposed to be on bedrest?" I'm drinking lots of water and using the bathroom nearly constantly, but I feel pretty good overall. I need to go have a nap now ... but ... things are better. I may end up just slowing down like this through the end of the pregnancy. We'll see!

*EDIT: I am having weird back pain and pressure, so I'm off to the hospital to see what's up. I'll post again when I can to update.

And I'm still having contractions

TMI

Talked to the nurse this morning, since I've been having contractions since Saturday. They're not very regular, but are intense and very uncomfortable at times. That plus a couple of other weird things going on, I was worried enough to call them.

I'm back on pelvic rest, and she would prefer it if I could be on bed rest, but working from home typing is "okay".

*sigh*

End of TMI

In other news, I cut out 12 diapers and 5 diaper covers last night ... they're all ready, waiting for me to sew up. Hubby was so proud this morning when he got home ... lol

And a joke from kiddo: What's black and white and green and black and white?

The Other Side of True Love

When you're in bed together, trying to go to sleep, and he suddenly flips over so his rear end is pointed away from you and lets a big one rip. True love, not stinking out your partner ... ;)

The Definition of True Love

When you can no longer reach your toes, and your sweet husband doesn't bat an eyelash when you ask him to take off your toenail polish. And does so, very gently. awww.

I realize the quality is not the best. I hadn't realized how huge I have gotten until I caught a glimpse of myself in a store window last week.

*sigh*

He kicks my ribs and punches my bladder simultaneously, or opposite sides of my belly, or whatever. He is going to be a big baby. Which is fine by me, just ... wow. Took a bath last night and watched my belly rolling around while he flipped from side to side. He shoves his knees or butt against the left side of my abdomen, near my ribs. He did this so much Saturday, he triggered contractions for the rest of the night. It was kind of scary. But they eventually did stop, and they weren't regular or anything, just intense. So ... I just kept telling him it was too early and he needed to stay put. Obviously, he did.

In other news, the motherboard to hubby's computer died. And our new Dell still doesn't work. They're sending out a technician this week to replace the hard drive and hopefully get it fixed. Hubby's sister was gracious enough to loan us hers in the meantime so he doesn't get too crazy not being able to play games or watch animation. Poor guy.

Happy Memorial Day! We had a BBQ with the in-laws ... and hubby crispied just about everything. He's still learning to BBQ. Kiddo had a blast jumping on the trampoline, and I am completely exhausted just from watching her. lol.

I'm going to work now and hopefully go to bed later after hopefully watching a movie with hubby. wooooooo.

Fave Five!

Missed Friday. It was a busy day ...

1. A child who can (and will) come to me with *anything*. Even if it's about pregnant 6th graders at her school (which her teacher confirmed). Or the day this week she got in trouble at school for scratching another child and *no one* from the school informed me, but she did, even knowing it would cost her a trip to the pool. Love her.

2. My snap press came! We've snapped two diaper covers and put 3 snaps in the top of Kiddo's pillowcase since her pillow is always falling out of it. Much more snapping to come ... it's kinda fun, kiddo loves pushing the lever after I've lined the snaps up.

3. Naps. I am loving the naps right now.

4. TransTech. That's the company I work for. For National MT Week, I got a $25 American Express gift cheque ... way better than a snow globe celebrating the fact that they're sending our jobs overseas or a travel coffee mug (two of the recent years' gifts from my old company). I think I smell a bookstore trip coming on ...

5. My husband for being patient with my tears and random situations. Went to lunch with my sister when my realtor called and said, "a couple wants to see the condo in 4 hours." Got home and hubby was a bit upset, but he did help clean -- he cleans much faster than I do, so I'll be honest. I "helped" him clean. It looked great and they liked it, but we haven't gotten an offer on it yet.

Busy -- crunchy goodness

I haven't posted much about what I'm doing sewing wise lately ... Thought I'd post a general update, which will also serve to remind myself what I have left to do (lol).

I have 2 dozen prefold diapers plus a few Snappis ordered; we'll use them mostly for the first little while, but I needed to make covers and stuff too. My snap press should be here in the next week, so I can put snaps on the things that need them that are sewed up.

I have sewed:
4 small diaper covers (need snaps)
2 newborn diaper covers (need snaps)
3 newborn pocket fitted diapers with internal gussets (these are going to be converted from pockets to snap-in absorbent layers instead; need snaps; will be used with covers)
1 small wet bag (for nursing/mama pads)
a pouch sling (made it too long at first, so I had to fix it)
the mai tei carrier
two t-shirt dipes that are pathetic and won't be used. lol
and i've mended some things that needed it

I have cut out but have yet to sew:
1 medium wet bag
1 more newborn fitted with gussets; will need snaps
2 waterproof layers for 2 newborn diaper covers (need flannel outers)
2 waterproof layers for nighttime diapers (need alova suedecloth inners so the scratchy part doesn't touch baby; suedecloth will be here in a couple of weeks)
6 inner layers for small diapers
6 outer layers for small diapers (I didn't like the color combo with these, so I'll be cutting out 6 more inners but add gussets to them, and 6 more outers of different colors)
8 flannel pieces for the snap-in soakers (these each need two more layers, terry and something else; some will have crushed panne, some will have bamboo velour once it shows up, and some will have suedecloth on one part to wick moisture away)
Using the big piece of PUL Dawn sent for a mattress protector; need to get it measured and maybe some elastic put in the corners

I have created patterns for and made samples of:
Washable nursing pads
Washable postpartum mama pads
The mama pads need tweaking; nursing pads are fine.

Still left to cut out and sew:
The items mentioned above that need to be cut out
1 large wet bag for the diaper pail
2 more newborn covers
A dipe or two for an orphanage in the Philippines
Need a total of 15-18 small dipes (will use prefolds and windpro covers at night) and 20 medium dipes as well as a snap-in soaker for each of them; we will try out two different patterns on the boy to see which one works best for him.
Kiddo wants a couple of dresses and her own little "purse" that looks like my wet bag only with straps and without the waterproof layer.

Also need to do something to the cutest duck and frog fleece I found for a blanket, and I would love it if I finish a couple of overdue works in progress: A quilt I started 6 years ago (it just has some hand quilting and binding left to do) and an afghan I started for hubby after we got married (probably 18 months ago).

It's kind of fun to get into all of this ... have to experiment with different styles of dipes and fabrics, getting lots of help from mamas who make and sell dipes and mama pads and stuff ... And getting fabric and baby stuff from Dawn and other moms is helping too. :)

P.S. I Love You

I don't usually watch tear jerkers. Period. And in my emotionally compromised and fragile pregnant state right now, I try and avoid touchy-feely movies at all. But I'd forgotten the premise to this movie until I saw the opening scene of the husband and wife fighting. It all came back to me in a flash, and I bawled for the next two hours as the wife found letters her deceased husband left for her in various places, and tried to move on with her life.

My husband and I don't always get along. Most couples don't. It just made me incredibly sad to think of the time we've wasted lately fighting or arguing or just not appreciating each other ... no one knows what the future holds. Even when the future looks bright and happy, anything can happen in an instant to change that.

I just really wish my sweet husband was home right now so I could tell him how much I love him. Guess it'll have to wait until morning. In the note I've written and left on his desk.

Pregnancy Fog

So, I went to a specific grocery store this morning to look for something specific that the other stores I usually shop at don't have ...

I bought about 15 other things and *never* went down the aisle that would contain the item I was there lookin for.

NO BRAIN. Wahoo.

The "Hawaiian" (polynesian) dress

Just a length of fabric I had kicking around, tied on. Hubby showed her a few different ways to do it ... She liked this one best.

Friday, May 16, 2008

Happy 300th post!

Wow ... I talk a lot.

FRIDAY FAVE FIVE!!!

1. Tylenol.

2. Puffs Plus, the best tissues EVER.

3. Running into old friends randomly at the grocery store.

4. Having a Polynesian hubby who can show kiddo how to drape herself in wild prints so she looks like she's wearing a Hawaiian dress. (she is wearing shorts and a T-shirt underneath)

5. Rocky Road ice cream. *shiver*

After dropping off kiddo (crap, should've snapped a photo in her "Hawaiian" clothes), I went to macey's for a few things -- had to fax something (the last page of which I found when I got home. *bad word) and am out of Tylenol and there are days it is the only thing that keeps me functional with these stupid headaches, and I got some more yogurt since I like that apparently ... Oh, and tissues -- my nose is running all the time and we keep running out of Puffs Plus and everything else makes my nose hurt. ANYWAY. On my way out of the store, my friend ... we'll call her Eagar ... was on her way IN the store with her 3 younger kids (she has 5). She was my neighbor and one of my bestest friends through junior high and most of high school, even though we went to rival schools. We are only 2 months apart and her oldest is the same age as Kiddo. My other best friend from right out of high school (Day) is also our same age and has 5 kids, oldest the same age as Kiddo, and their youngest babies are the same age. They don't know each other.

So, I stopped to chat for a minute or two, she said my belly is cute, i told her i feel like a whale, so we talked about how rude people can be when you're pregnant. Like ... our Stake RS presidency is mostly in my ward, and I love them all to pieces, but they were giving me so much crap on Sunday about my waddling and if we're really sure there's only one baby in there ... I smiled politely until I was done listening, kept smiling and told them they are lucky I love them all so much. One said, "If we were other people, would you be slapping us by now?" "Yes." With a big smile on my face. lol. So, I caught up with Eagar a bit -- we've chatted on the phone a few times this year, but really haven't seen or talked to her much since high school ... Really hoping both Eagar and Day can come to the baby shower.

Anyway, as soon as I got in the car, the first thing that came to mind was, "I'm so glad I showered this morning." I don't always get one due to fatigue or busy-ness, and yes, I know that's gross, so please no flaming. Anyway. First thought was gratitude that I'd had the time to shower this morning and I put makeup on and looked halfway decent for once at 9 a.m. I am not a morning person. Right now, I'm not an any time of day person. Look at me cross-eyed and you'll wish you were invisible. hehehe ...

Before I get to work, I'm really excited for tonight. Hubby is off, so we're going to dinner and a movie. DisGrace is watching Munchkin (well, letting her tear around their house with her 3 monkeys while she works). We'll do something inexpensive for dinner and then catch Iron Man. I'm just excited to spend some time with my sweetie outside of our house ... lol

HAVE A FANTABULOUS FRIDAY!!!

Derf

I completely overdid yesterday (day off) and woke up with (TMI) pink discharge this morning. I'm chilling and working today, not stressing over anything. I walked a lot yesterday -- went to the neighbor's to visit teach, then went to Joanns to get some fabric and I couldn't park very close and wandered all over the store (got the cutest fleece for a blanket and a couple of things for Munchkin to craft with this summer), then walked half a mile to Auntie Voodoo's to meet DisGrace, had lunch with DisGrace and Dizzy and ran errands with them, hurried into the healthfood store to get some protein powder for hubby, came home to lie down but had to pick up Munchkin so my rest was short-lived, then we went to the grocery store to get frozen pizzas for dinner last night ... was up and down the stairs a lot. I did get a nap after dinner, then I sewed diaper covers last night, too. All in all, I just did wayyyyyyy too much. So I've been resting this morning, drank some juice and a Pepsi, and MoJo woke up and started kicking me, so everything is okay.

Hubby wasn't having the best day yesterday (which is one of the reasons I ended up doing so much), but he is doing pretty well on his meds ... I still think he needs something for his anxiety attacks, but my opinion doesn't count much on that score with the doctor. Or hubby.

Munchkin is still her hyper self -- I think she's getting nervous about the baby though and "losing" her daddy since she's demanding more attention from him and started punching him (!) the last week or so. Need to have a talk with her and him separately about it.

Hubby called CPS about Small Fry. We haven't heard from her in over 2 months now, her mother's phone has been disconnected, and we're supposed to have her for the summer starting in about 3 weeks. They told him they couldn't tell him anything, and legally wouldn't be able to tell him anything, and he should call the DA and/or PD about it. BAH. It's one of the reasons he was having an off day yesterday.

Need to get an electrician in to fix the lights in the office. *sigh* dunno who to call on that one. Bah.

At any rate. I'm just kicking back today -- yes, I still have laundry to wash and change over, but if at any point today I start having contractions, even BH ones, I'm going to go lie down and/or call the doctor.

Happy Mother's Day!

It's belated ... I wasn't up to posting yesterday.

Let's see ... hubby brought me roses and a journal and some nilla cakesters Saturday night. I do journal, although blogging does tkae up its fair share of my journaling these days. The flowers are gorgeous, and the cakesters were because he ate most of the other box I bought. lol.

Kiddo woke up at 2:20 a.m. to give me her gift. It was a pen with a rose attached to it, a magenetic notebook they'd made in school (the kids drew a picture and then the teachers xeroxed the photo on different colored paper and had them bound into a notebook) that says "it's a boy it's a boy" and "i wuv you". There was a note inside that said, among other things, "my mom's favorite thing to do is 'cooking'." It was all wrapped up in a white bag that she'd drawn little brown baby boys and baby bottles on one side, and a hugely pregnant me holding kiddo's hand next to a crib on the other side. Too cute.
We had dinner with my in-laws and took cards for MIL and dessert. I'm the dessert lady apparently -- my SIL is usually working when we go over, but she always tells her parents to save her some of whatever dessert I make. lol. My MIL gave me a muumuu for mother's day that she had made for me ... it is quite comfy and cool in the heat -- I put it on as soon as we got home last night and only took it off when I was ready for bed. Put it back on first thing this morning. lol. Hubby was all happy I'm wearing it, kiddo laughed and said, "you sure like that thing." lol.
Baby has been kicking up a storm the last few days ... he's got to be running out of room soon though ... hurts when the little booger hits my cervix or bladder. the rest of it i don't mind at all.

Happy Mother's Day to all my mommy readers -- even if you don't have kids yet. :)

FRIDAY FAVE FIVE!

Holy cow, it's been a long time since I've done this. Needing a shot of positive today, so here goes!

1. Peachie-O's. Peach gummy rings. Baby loves them. And fruit flavored tootsie rolls.

2. Kiddo's cute little dance she made up for her talent show today, to the tune of BNL One Little Slip. Sorry, no video cam, but it was cute.

3. Hubby being soooo patient with me when I'm whiny.

4. Carmex. Since I got pregnant, I'm congested all the time and a mouth breather (gah), so my lips are constantly chapped unless I use this allll the time. Hubby hates the taste of it though, so I bought

5. Avon/mark juice gems lip gloss in peach. Much moh' bettah for smoochin'.

Not much going on ...

I have no idea.

Last thing you ate?

Ten Things That Make Me Happy!

Thanks for the tag Kaje. In no particular order ...

10. Feeling my baby kick me.

9. Hugs from my kiddo.

8. Being able to still reach my toes and paint them.

7. Hugs from my hubby. Our relationship is usually pretty good, and I'm glad I have him ... most of the time. ;)

6. LAMICTAL. (See #7).

5. Reading -- ditto Kaje.

4. Lemon bars and fruit flavored candy apparently. At least this week. Don't get between a pregnant lady and her cravings, dude.

3. The Gospel, scriptures, prayer, etc. I'm not always as active or anything as I should be, but ... I'm trying.

2. Palmer's cocoa butter lotion on my belly. Holy cow, stops the itchies.

1. Flavored lip gloss. Yum.

My friends also make me happy and remind me that life doesn't suck too much. Even when I think it does. Thanks.

I tag... Kip, Ehu, and Dawn

Um, yeah ...

They bought a different place. Not ours, not the other owner's ... they found a FSBO over the weekend (without an agent, so our agent doesn't get a commission either), and those owners dropped their price hugely and said they'd pay all the closing costs. so ... they went with it. i don't blame them, it was a sweet deal. i'm just bummed. *sigH*

The House Situation

So here's the situation.

They called our agent today to ask her to take them to two more places, since they really like our agent and wanted to work with her. They didn't like the other agents they'd met last night.

I guess they had decided they wanted our place while they were looking at the last place they saw today with our agent when the owner showed up without her agent. She tried to work a deal right there, which was completely unethical, but said she'd drop the price to 178 (3 bedrooms), pay all their closing costs, and give them the fridge. BUT there isn't a garage and the guy works for a BMW dealership, so the garage is really important to them. They're torn between the garage and the deal. So ... they're fasting and praying about it tomorrow and are supposed to get back to her tomorrow or Monday. She said she's fasting too, since she thinks they should be here. lol

The thing is, we said 185 so there was a bit of wiggle room there. So I told her there was some wiggle room, that I'd always figured I'd have to pay some of the closing costs, and the fridge was always meant to stay. Of course, hubby is pissed off now and doesn't want to drop the price at ALL or give them an inch. lol. Mostly we want to pay off the car and a credit card, and I'm pretty sure we can still do that a tad bit lower *if* we only have our agent involved (makes a huge difference in commission fees).

She said she'd let them do their thing and if they come back Monday saying they want the other place, she'd tell them there was some wiggle room here and ask them what they thought. So we won't know for a couple more days.

She did say that she told them that most of these places they are looking at are families and that since it's just the two of them, if someone needed a couple more weeks, they might want to consider finding somewhere for a couple weeks to make it more feasible for the families. They said they have an uncle nearby they can stay with for 1 or 2 weeks. So that's also sort of good news.

At any rate, that's what's going on with the house. Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

*panic repeated*

Well, we got it cleaned. The place looks great, really. Hubby worked very hard in the garage and the kitchen, vacuumed most of the house, and did random things in other rooms while I worked and then did my office. Kiddo cleaned her room, and then I vacuumed the office and her room. As we were leaving, the agent came and knocked on my car door window and scared the dickens out of me. lol.

So then she called after they'd looked at it. Oh my gosh. They said it's their favorite floor plan, the best price, etc. etc. etc. They do have two other units to look at tonight, but if they make the offer, they want to be closed and moved in on 5/15. That's less than two weeks. They're preapproved for the loan, so that's not an issue either. It'll be fast and furious, but we can do it if we need to ... *crossing fingers* So I'm hoping they pull through and make the offer. Wheeeeeeeeeeeee.

*panic*

Our listing agent called today to see if we can show the house tomorrow night. Now, it's not in as bad shape as it has been in the past, but it's still not super clean either. She had emailed last week to let us know a couple was probably coming in 2 weeks from out of town to see it, so we thought we had this weekend to pick up. Apparently, we thought wrong!

It's fine -- she's great, she's very understanding and knows just how pregnant I am. I am going to work on the house tonight and tomorrow, and hubby and kiddo will help, but wow ... started making a list of things to do ...

*Bathrooms: toilets, sinks, tubs, countertops, floors, mirrors, make sure all the "dainties" and other clothes are out of there ...
*Kitchen: Dishwasher (probably twice), pots&pans, floor, dining room table, put various stray items away (flower pots, protein powder, safety pins, etc.)
*Dining room: Clean up kiddo's messes, get the placemats cleaned up and taken care of, etc.
*Living room: LAUNDRY put away, kiddo's messes put away, car seat and play yard (which showed up today, Wiiiii!) put away, sewing stuff put back in the closet, etc.
*Office: Ack. Make it presentable.
*Kiddo's room: LAUNDRY put away, make her clean up her crap off the floor.
*Our room: Laundry, put winter bedding back up in the closet, get boxes out of there, clean clean clean, etc.
*Entry: Sweep, mop.
*Trash out of office and bathrooms (this has to go on a list or I forget; kitchen trash goes out at least once a day, sometimes more, depending)
*Vacuum the entire house

Yeah ... just a tad overwhelmed. Oy.

ETA: Got our room and bathroom done last night, sewing stuff put back in the closet, the boxes that were in the way in the bedroom stashed in another closet, the laundry all put away, and the trash taken out. Then I started having contractions so I went to bed. They're just Braxton Hicks so they didn't hurt, but still annoying enough to keep me from sleeping or doing anything. Hubby woke up and is tackling the garage and will help with the main living space once he's done down there. I just keep reminding myself that it could definitely be worse.

Woohoo!

Hubby felt the baby kick this morning! He hadn't been able to yet so he quit trying, but last night I saw my belly jumping around with the kicks, and this morning hubby was singing and baby was kicking, so I asked him to sing to his son. He put his hand on my belly and started singing whatever song he'd been singing, and BAM! Baby cooperated and kicked his daddy hard enough for daddy to feel! We're all stinkin' excited about it. :)
