I will preface this post by saying I do not love all things Twilight. The story intrigued me, yet the dramatic heroine and control freak of a hero bug me. The obsession of the fans about the main characters and actors portraying them?
Frightens me.
Seriously. How many women in their 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s are hot to trot after Jacob? He's played by a 17-year-old BOY! I realize Rob and Kristen are "of age" but the characters they play are 17 and 18.
And yet woman all over the country are swooning for these BOYS.
Not only do I not understand the obsession about a series that isn't that well written, but there is a HUGE double standard. If men were lined up around the country to see a teen movie put out by, oh, Selena Gomez or Taylor Swift or Hannah Montana or any young starlet, posing with life-size cutouts of the actresses with their arm around the cutout and hands all over the cutout, I bet most of these same women would be telling them how creepy they were for it. But it's "cool" for the women to do so and post pictures to their facebook pages, blogs, and anywhere else they can.

I literally just had the same conversation with my coworkers today. I said that if 40 year-old men had Miley Cyrus on their t-shirts, it would be creepy.
It's creepy for sure. David and I also had this convo last night. I said, Ew. He was like, but he's ripped!?! Sorry, but that makes it all the more freaky to me. Anyway, then he pulled up pictures of Patrick Dempsey and the conversation was over.
It's not just creepy, it's statutory.
Kristina, so, so true!
lol @ Dawn.
Man, sometimes I feel alone in my sanity amongst the creepies of the world. Thank you SO much for making me feel normal! hahaha
its just fun...and the books were a real easy read which sometimes you just need. I dont own a shirt for myself but cassidy has a couple and the poster...Do you think thats creepy? I am going to see it tonight. and BTW I do the think that Jacob is HOT!
LOL
Rockelle, kids Cassidy's age are the target demographic, and it's NOT creepy that they like the books/movies/characters/actors or have their shirts or posters. My 14-yo niece has a huge crush on Jacob/Taylor.
... not sure what to say about you thinking Jacob is HOT. He's Shark Boy and always will be.
A friend just posted pictures of their NMpalooza on FB. They were all wearing the creepiest Twilight shirt yet - "Team Edward (except when Jacob is shirtless)." She's between my 2 sisters' ages I think, but that's still 30+.
Most of my FB friends are posting about how hot Jacob is.
Let's see their husbands/boyfriends/friends post about how hot Taylor Swift is and see what happens.
I don't even like the books. I question the fascination of adults with teen rom-fiction? Where has our reading level/standards gone to??
I can't quite figure out how teen angst holds such interest for adults. Nevermind that these ARE teenagers that the women are fantasizing over -- maybe it is a need to recapture youth...hard to say.
I'm happy to be one of the minority in this situation.
