So, there's a sandwich place I passed on my way home from La Leche League (breastfeeding support group) last week. They are a cheesesteak place, supposedly. I've had cheesesteaks in Philly and they are delish, and I've had other wannabes that were good sandwiches, but not cheesesteaks.
I've had this craving for a cheesesteak, so I stopped and ordered one. It smelled SO good and looked good and had yummy-looking bread ... steak, onions, peppers, provolone ... everything that should make a great sandwich, right?
It was SO bad. It was covered in black pepper -- that's all I could taste. It burned my lips, mouth, and throat, and made me feel sick for hours afterward.
I emailed them because it really was that bad, and they said it's not like a Philly cheesesteak because they don't use cheez wiz (duh) and that, though it is a spicy sandwich, I probably got some meat that had been overseasoned during cooking.
News flash: There is a difference between "spicy" and "lots of black pepper."
Anyway. They're sending me a gift certificate to try them again. We'll see if/when I do. It might be 7 or 8 months ... lol.
