Then WHY Sleep With Him?

Okay, I'm on a board for women due in August, like me. I hear so many of them complaining about so many aspects of their relationships with the father of their babies.

Like for instance, one has told her multiple times (even before they got pregnant) that he didn't love her that way and knew he would never marry her. Guess what? She's now pregnant, still desperately in love with him, and still sleeps with him, even though he doesn't love her. And guess what else? Several other women have said they've faced similar problems with the FOB in their lives, too. WHY sleep with him then? WHY sleep with him after he's said so? WHY keep sleeping with him when you have a baby to think of, not just yourself? This is how we get all of our babies born to different daddies and then wonder why we are miserable. (Okay, I know my second is being born to a different daddy, but we are married ...)

Men don't turn down sex offered by a woman unless they have religious reasons to do so, I've learned. Or if they're gay. So this is a huge problem for a lot of women: Their emotions are tied up in the act. The men's aren't. And the man who DOES love you, WILL take no for an answer and will STILL love you.

Just another reason abstinence is best until marriage. Hello.

I can't rant about this to them; that would be cruel. They can't change the fact that they are knocked up now. I just needed to express my frustration somewhere. GAH. Keep the pants on girls and you won't have this heartache ...

That being said, this is not directed to anyone who reads my blog or I know IRL. This is just directed at those girls sleeping with FOB who doesn't love them (some of them sleep around, too, and still sleep with FOB. Hello, STDs???). I know crap happens, especially when you love each other so much and have been there before ... Boy howdy, do I know this. I can't imagine what would happen if, God forbid, anything happened to my sweet husband ... aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa. I'd be insane.

Anyway. This all led to yet another discussion with kiddo. I want her to know the right time (after marriage, preferably a temple marriage) and place (not in a parking lot afterward), but I also want her to be able to protect herself from STDs and pre-marriage babies. We talked about how sex creates a bond between you and the other person, and that God intended it that way, so it's really important not to abuse it and to do things his way. But if we choose otherwise, we dang well better use protection. lol. She still thinks it's all gross, but she's willing to talk with me at least ... hahahahaha.

Typing test

89 words

Speed test

Okay, I type for a living. No surprise, right? But this tested me slower than other tests I've taken. The thing I didn't like about this particular test is that I usually keep my eyes moving along ahead of what I'm actually typing by two words, and it has a delay before new words come up where I had to start over every 10-15 words. Annoying. But whatever. Still better than a poke in the eye. ;)

*edited*

Speaking of pain ... I bought an epilator not too long ago. I am used to having certain places bare after my laser treatments, but the hair is all growing back, and with the baby, it's growing back FASTER in a lot of place. And I started to look like the bearded lady. Ew.

Like the Epilady from the '80s, it yanks hair out by the roots. UNLIKE the Epilady, it is not springs but little disks that act like tweezers, and it WORKS. My friend who was telling me about them didn't tell me they have a cheaper version ($20) at Wal-Mart, but that's okay. This one plugs in and has two speeds: One for fine hairs and one for coarse hairs. I used it on my face and belly the first day, first taking off fine hairs, then the coarse. Since I have had to tweeze my chin and other spots nearly every day for a very long time, I am planning on having to use it more often than the "6 weeks" they say you can go between and be hairless, but I know that it's just a matter of time before I can go a tad longer between.

Last night, I don't know what possessed me, but I did my underarms. The first 10-20 seconds was PAIN, and then the endorphins must have kicked in because it didn't hurt so much. I did make myself cross eyed though trying to see all the hairs in my own arm pits. and some of the little spots where the hairs (and their roots) yanked through did bleed (just like when I went to the salon for a wax before the wedding ...) But wow ... they are smooth ... but they do hurt a bit today. eep.

Went from Brazilian from the laser to a fur ball again (I know, way TMI). It's driving me crazy. I'm sure at some point I'll get up the guts to at least clean up the edges, but it'll take a lot of bravery ... and help from the man, because I can't even see down there ... there's a baby in the way. lol

Now that I've completely disgusted all of you with my hairiness and soon to be lack thereof, I shall get back to work. Mwah.

*edited again to add*
I retook the test. 99 wpm. that is much more better. lol. still not my best though ...

Twenty weeks today. Tremble at my hugeness.

Migraines

So, I had a typical migraine a couple weeks ago, starting with sparkly flashy lights and numb skin then progressing to intense pain, so I took some tramadol and Tylenol and a nap. The ones triggered by food, noise, light, or scents just start with the pain. That's the kind I had Sunday at church.

When I got up this morning to make breakfast and take Munchkin to school, the first thing I noticed was those same dang sparkly flashy lights blocking my vision. They'd be pretty if I didn't know they were a precursor to a heckuvalot of pain.

Told hubby a migraine was coming on and that I was missing half my visual field and he'd need to take kiddo to school (that part only lasts 20-30 minutes, but then I go numb and then the pain hits, so it's not safe for me to drive during these), took my pills, and then I made breakfast. I also threw some beans in the crockpot that I'd soaked last night. After he got back from dropping her off, I slept in her bed for a couple hours. Woke up feeling tons better, but the throbbing eye keeps coming back every few hours. *sigh*

Talked to the neurologist yesterday about them again, and then mentioned a tremor I've been noticing about the last year or so. He said it's an essential tremor and would get worse during pregnancy (like the migraines) but would go away after the baby is born, until I get older. His advice? "Don't get older. Try and have a birthday every 5 years instead of every year." I laughed and laughed.

Anyway. I am doing rather well most of the time. Sometimes it's hard to go up and down the stairs much, especially when the baby is lying low and across my pelvis or when I'm having Braxton-Hicks contractions (practice ones, don't freak out). They're not painful but can be fairly uncomfortable at times.

And I'm still working on cleaning the house. Hubby and Munchkin have been helping a lot more, so that's good too. When hubby got home from work this morning, he was like, "You CLEANED again!" lol. I vacuumed and picked up junk after he went to work last night. And cleared out part of our room, which I'd been planning to do anyway. So yeah, it's coming along. Woohoo!

HAPPY EASTER!

So ... Kiddo and I made it to sacrament meeting yesterday but I got slammed with a migraine, so we came home. I took some pain meds and had a nap, then made a ham, cheesy potatoes, asparagus, and heated up some sweet rolls, and we took it to the in-laws.

MIL ate most of the asparagus. She's always hated it, but didn't know how to prepare it (snap off the end so you don't get the tough icky woody part, she'd just cook the whole thing), so she decided it was delish and ate most of it.

Hubby's older brother slept most of the time we were there, and then got up and came upstairs to eat. FIL and younger BIL had left to take a plate of food to SIL, who was at work, and so he ate the cheesy potatoes that were left on Dad's plate (Baby liked them, my bad, I ate a LOT). We sat and visited for a while, Kiddo got REALLY hyper, and they made me laugh so hard I nearly wet my pants. The older BIL watched me trying to get off the couch (which was rather amusing) and asked how much longer we have. "If you can believe it, 4-1/2 months." He was shocked. I know I'm huge -- I only have about an inch of space between my bottom ribs and the top of my pelvis. There is nowhere for a baby to grow except straight OUT. Kiddo stuck right out too.

At any rate, I don't usually mind showing big, except for people commenting on it and saying I must be having twins or other not so nice things. Wish I could slap them all. *sigh*

Anyway. We signed the listing papers today for the condo ... It'll be on the market this afternoon and hoping it sell soon. After I spent 3-4 hours last week cleaning kiddo's room while she was at school, dumping 3 bags of garbage and a huge box to DI, she's actually been able to keep it clean, AND she made her bed before school this morning even though she didn't want to. Need to do the same thing in my room and office (get rid of boxes and bags and junk) and get some boxes for books and stuff. It's coming along. Thankfully.

Weekend Funnies

I asked hubby to go rent Enchanted for me yesterday. And told him he could get something he wanted to watch, too. lol. He brought home Enchanted and Hitman "unrated" and something else for kiddo. Well. I made him watch Enchanted with me. He hated about the first 10 minutes, but got into it and ended up liking it. Then we reminisced about our first kiss (which was magical), and he got all gooey and lovey. So funny. Kiddo watched it this morning while I slept in, and she loved it, so when we went to Walmart to get her Easter dress (hush, I know it's last minute), I picked it up too to stick in her basket. lol And we talked about how you shouldn't go kissing every boy to find the right "magical" kiss but that it would eventually happen, like mine and daddy's. She thought it was cool that our first kiss was awesome, but then she changed the subject. *snort*

On the way home, she was asking me if she needed braces, and I told her she probably would just because her secondary incisors came in a bit high. Then I said, "But we'll ask Dr. Howell [her dentist] what he thinks." She giggled and said, "You mean, Dr. AROOOOOOOOOO!" and howled like a dog. SO funny.

She alternately makes me crazy and makes me laugh. Whining a lot, but then cracking me up with sillies. She's going through some changes apparently ... made me go in the dressing room with her and then threw her jacket over my head so I didn't see her change. "I'm not wearing a bra, Ma!!!" This from the kid who used to stick her butt in my face. lol She's growing up -- not that she needs a bra yet, but she likes wearing them, and I'm not going to tell her no. They're more like sports bras/camis, and hey, at least she's trying to be modest and cover herself up ... unlike her step-sister who doesn't like wearing bras and refuses to ... even though she's needing one.

BAG TAG (finally)

THE RULES:
1. You have to show your bag
2. Show all the contents in the bag -no cleaning out first!
3. Bag Tag five more people

Okay, so I did take the pics for this originally with my red purse, but the pics are all on my camera and I can't download pics from it right now -- computer/monitor issues still. SO, since Steph bugged me, here are pics from the teeny tiny purse we picked up on our shopping spree last week, taken with my cell phone, so it is not in any of the shots. My sunglasses are also not in the shots because I didn't have them in there when I did this.
Teeny tiny bag.
Two pens (one of which I've been looking for), various receipts, movie ticket stub for Spiderwick (fabulous!), and a grocery list.
This one ... yep, all this stuff fits in that bitty bag. At the top is a glove -- wear them for typing and must have forgotten to take it off and shoved it in the bag when I ran errands. Happens a lot. Keys and Purelle are diretly below that. Then the wallet (which I still need a smaller one ... have to go to Claire's), the camera out of the camera bag, a lip gloss, and a carmex. and at the bottom is my flash drive, i.e., my livelihood. If my work computer ever dies, there are text expansion files on there that will save my life. Came in very handy during my recent switch of jobs -- just copied the files over to my new job's computer.

And there you have it. My itty bitty bag and all the stuff I can shove in it and still zip it up.

BAG TAG: I vote Kip needs to do one with a purse other than the fuzz butts. And Jen and Dawn and Katie and Bobbie and anyone else who reads this: You're tagged!

Thursday, March 20, 2008

Katie didn't tag me but I'm doing it anyway

I Have been tagged...
A. The rules of the game are posted at the beginning.
B. Each player answers the question about themselves.
C. At the end of the post, the player then tags five people and posts their names, then goes to their blog and leaves them a comment, letting them know that they have been tagged and asking them to read your blog.

1. What was I doing ten years ago? In 1998?
I was married to my ex, working at MarcLink doing data entry, about to start selling Mary Kay but never became terribly successful at it, and pretty much hating life.

buy a big house with a big yard, pay off the folks' houses, buy new cars, quit my job, tell hubby to quit his, go see my grampa and other family, travel to hawaii and other destinations (as long as hubby can go -- he's not a citizen yet, so not sure that he can leave the country), and invest

*My middle name is Fatoush, which means "salad."
*I almost cut my second date with hubby short because I was getting bored, and I didn't want to go out with him again. Then he hit me in the boob with a shrimp tail and the rest is history.
*In high school and college, I played a lot of solos on the oboe with the band and orchestra and would rather have passed out from lack of oxygen than ruin a phrase by breathing in the middle.
*I've broken both legs more than once.

Tagging: I hate tagging, but if you read it, you must do it. :P

Wooooo! I have a sweet husband, even if he is a punk sometimes. after I had a meltdown yesterday, he cleaned the living room (wahoo!) and surprised me with these this morning. Love him lots anyway, but am so grateful for him cheering me up so well.

LOOK!!!

I had a bad day yesterday -- stressed about how messy my house has been, stressed about trying to sell it, stressed about moving while pregnant or, heaven forbid, after the baby comes ... I know it needs to be done, but I was really hoping Steph could buy the place. (I think she's getting a car instead, but it's cute!!!)

At any rate, I've been complaining about the mess, reminding hubby he said he'd help, asking for help, etc. Nothing happened. Well, his mom called to check on us yesterday and I told her I thought we were comign over on Sunday, and she said, "Oh, good! What do you want us to cook?" lol. I told hubby she'd said that and he said, "Tongan food! Octopus!" I told him I'd eat octopus if he helped clean the house. He got kind of upset and said that made him want to help less.

I went back to work, but very unfocused and distracted, and after my early shift ended yesterday, I just burst into tears. Hubby was like ... "What's wrong?" "I don't know." "Are you stressed about the house?" "Yes, but I'm trying not to be. And I'm trying not to be mean, but I know I am." So I went and laid down and cried some more and hid under a blanket (lol). A few minutes later, I heard him changing the dishwasher, and when I came out, he'd finished and was working on the living room. He actually got the living room cleaned up, and I worked on the bedroom while he was doing that. About an hour later, I hit my limit, but I got rid of two trash bags of stuff and put together two boxes of clothes for DI. There is still a LOT to be done, but I feel better. I'm going to try and tackle kiddo's room today.

At any rate, hubby was pretty grumpy about it, all things told, and I cried some more. "Please don't cry. When you cry for no reason it makes me crazy." lol. I made myself stop crying, and then he went to work and I went to bed after my late shift. When he came home this morning, he woke me up and gave me a kiss as usual then left the room, but I could tell something was up. Didn't know what. So I came out of the bedroom and gave him a hug and asked if he was upset with me. He said no and seemed okay, so I just went back to bed. He came in an hour or so later and woke me up again, and we cuddled for a bit. Kiddo woke up and came in to say hi and have prayer, and then I got up. Came in my office, and LOOOOK! what he'd put on my office chair! Now I know why he was being weird: He was being sneaky! He wrote me a very sweet note, too. I cried again and went back in the bedroom and said thanks. He knew why I was crying that time, so it didn't freak him out so much. Hormones. Crying. Wooo.

I gotta get started or it's never going to get done. Have a happy Hump Day!

Yay! Heart is beating strong and steady -- Dr. Cutie got the cutest grin on his face when he found the heartbeat. He had to look for a minute -- my flab and baby hiding. But it was there, strong, loud.

We scheduled the big ultrasound for 4/4. Kiddo wants to come, and we may just check her out of school for it.

18 weeks 1 day!

I know -- the belly is ginormous. I've still only gained 6 pounds, 4 of which I lost while I was so sick, but they've found me again! That's okay -- baby is growing and happy.

I'll update again this afternoon after my OB appt.

GIRL TIME!

Never underestimate the power of the girl.

Went to the temple with Steph and Prism. Had to rent a tent to wear since my temple dress would not do up around the baby. Stopped at the distribution center, talked to Hyz on the phone for a minute (thanks again for thinking of me!), and then they dropped me off and ran an errand (theBoy). Then they picked me up and we grabbed kiddo from school.

Late lunch at Rumbi Island, followed by HOURS of SHOPPING!! (and I totally wore the wrong shoes).

We started at Old Navy, and I got some cute stretchy T's that work with the belly, and a cute pair of maternity shorts. Thrilled about them. Got a couple of T's for kiddo, too, but she wanted EVERYTHING WE SAW. Oy. I only bought stuff that was on sale or clearance. Name of the game in my world these days. Steph got a couple of shirts and Prism got some uber cute jeans and a top. Next, off to Lane Bryant. Picked up 3 bras on clearance and used Steph's gift cheque, so they were el cheapo (thank you!!!) and Prism got a few more items of apparel -- cute capris and fun tops. Kiddo played in the bras and panties section while I was trying to find some, and decided it was a big girl store. She still wanted *something* so Prism volunteered to walk her to Ross to find a purse (the ones at LB were $20 on clearance. I don't think so). Turns out, there was a purse I *needed* at Ross, too, and we got something for Small Fry to maybe ship with her Easter stuff if her mother ever gets back to me on a shipping address ...

Steph and Prism picked up the car while we were in line to pay, and then we walked over to Best Buy to look for a keyboard. Hubby and I decided just to get a new one since the old one had some sticky keys (like SHIFT). It was $65 and online at RadioShack, the same one was $55. So we went over there. My feet were killing me, so I kept taking off my heels. RadioShack didn't have them in-store. We left -- I was really done, but Steph said, "Why don't we call circuit city?" So she gave me the number and i called. They had them in stock. On sale. For $40!!! She also gave me a gift card to help pay (Thanks again -- I totally owe you), and she picked up The Office. lol

By this time, 4 hours had passed since lunch, and we were all hungry again. So we drove up to our place and stopped at Wienerschnitzel after a debate on where to go (not aided in the least by kiddo insisting on places the rest of us didn't want to go to -- until we said Wienerschnitzel). Stopped there, called hubby when we were on our way in, and he was just leaving for work. He wasn't going to be late, so I begged him to stay until we got home so I could give him a hug and a kiss (I kinda missed him ... okay, I missed him a lot). He said okay, and we went in and picked up food. Got home, he ran down the stairs, Prism and Steph went up and we had a little family prayer and hugs (and a smooch after kiddo left), and then he went to work. Steph helped me get my new keyboard hooked up as we ate our grease-fest, and then we brought up all the shopping stuff ... and she reminded me downstairs to write her a check for the LB stuff, which completely slipped my mind when we actually got upstairs where the checkbook was. Derf. (I did write it out and will mail it tomorrow).

MAN, I hope the tax return really gets deposited tomorrow ...

THANK HEAVEN for the new keyboard. I typed faster and furiouser and got some good work done, but I am beat and my feet are screaming, so I'm going to bed. Hubby is supposed to take kiddo to the school in the a.m. for "Dads and Donuts," so if they are kind, I may get to sleep in a bit before working. I have 20 hours left to work this week, so I'll be putting in 10-hour days the next two, which will be so much easier to do with the keyboard that doesn't suck. Thanks for being persistent Steph, and thanks Prism and Kiddo for getting dragged all over creation for the shop-a-thon.

On another note, thanks to everyone who called/wrote about ocmputer parts (spare monitors and connectors). We will get the monitor thing figured out, but need a flat screen at the moment. That's why we're holding off and not worrying about it right this minute. We have plenty of the other kind of monitors and may end up taking it in my office and making room on my big desk for the other computer. We just have yet to figure it out and have had a lot of other stuff going on lately. So since he's gone to work, I'm quickly typing this up on his computer ...

Until the next time i can snag a few minutes on this thing ...

Man, my blog is boring

Kiddo had a "play" tonight -- they did an abbreviated version of the Wizard of Oz but added dance numbers and stuff to get ALL of the third graders on the stage. It actually was done pretty well, and the teachers joined in, too. Kiddo's wore bunny ears and a pink tutu. We all laughed. The scarecrow did backflips across the stage, which I don't remember happening in the movie.

Work at the new job is pretty good. Need to get some done tonight, but was starving so I ate first. AND I needed to catch up on some blogs -- after I disassembled the old computer, I realized I can't check any blogs on my new work computer ... and the monitor on my PC died, so I have to fight hubby for HIS computer. There's a reason he got a second computer for his birthday last year -- he doesn't share well. We need a new monitor for the other PC so kiddo and I can use the other one sometimes. And the printer and camera are hooked to it and stuff ... so ... yeah. I also either have to buy a new ergonomic keyboard with a USB plug for the work comp OR get an adapter. We're pretty broke though since we were both out of work for a week or so. The keyboard they sent isn't ergo and the keys are super stiff, so it's killing me to type on it. Have to figure out something and soon. AND, I'll get to the bag tag once I get the computer mess figured out. I'm afraid mine is more boring than Steph's, Kip's, or Ehu's.

Aside from all of that, not much is going on. Hubby and I are both doing a lot better, although I had the weirdest migraine ever today. Started with a bit of pain in the morning and afternoon, and after I came home from the dress rehearsal, I was chilling on the couch reading Hairy Pooter 7 and some of the letters started to disappear. The visual auras (sparkly visual disturbances) really get in the way, but tip me off that I need meds to ward off worse pain especially since I can't have a shot in the butt right now. So I popped a tramadol the neurologist gave me and a couple of Tylenol. A couple hours later, the pain hadn't gotten too bad (in fact, it had lessened), but the skin on my left hand and left side of my face got all numb and tingly. Usually when that happens, I am in excruciating pain and just have to go to bed. The pain never hit so much, thankfully, so I was able to go to the play with hubby and kiddo.

And just in case you didn't know, I'm a good speller.

Woohoo!

Feeling better. Finally. I'm still a tad sick, but there is a huge difference between nonfunctional and "I want to put the laundry away and feel like I can work for the first time in a week!"

HA!

I'm not going to overdo. Baby needs a healthy mommy, and hubby would love to be able to recuperate himself instead of waiting on me hand and foot.

I start my first full day with the new job today and am rather looking forward to it. Finally took apart the computer from the old one. And looking around the house now, going, "man, this place is a mess ..." there are things I want to do and need to do ... hoping I can start tackling them all this week since I won't be chained to the couch (while sick) or to a computer as much as I was at the old job, spinning my wheels and feeling like I never got anything accomplished and the house went to crap. Obviously, that has to change if we're trying to sell this place, which we both want to do! Sheesh!

Still Very Sick

Actually, it seems like round two of this bug ... hubby felt better for a couple of days, went to work Monday, then they sent him home Tuesday because he was so flippin' sick. He started feeling better yesterday, but this morning is feeling pretty bad off again.

I'd been feeling better early in the week, and then it hit me like a ton of bricks yesterday. I think I got about 6 hours of sleep last night between about 9 and 6:30 this morning. I was up every couple of hours, honking, sneezing, blowing, coughing, choking on crap ... I think I've produced my body weight in mucus. (okay, probably not).

At any rate, we've been very good about keeping me hydrated and trying to control the fever ... It's really hard though. Hubby just keeps pumping me full of "tea" (hot water, lime juice, and honey) and Tylenol.

Still, baby is moving and saying hi. So I guess he/she is doing fine in there, even with my stomach muscles hurting so bad at times from all the coughing and blowing.

Kiddo started sneezing a little last night and coughed a bit this morning. She insists she's fine and not sick though ... hoping she's right.

BABY WIGGLED AGAIN.

Just so you know. It's fine. It kicked me this morning when I accidentally squished it, and then ran laps for a few minutes.

I seriously thought I was in labor yesterday morning with cramping and pain. It lessened after about an hour and I could pinpoint it to my right flank -- it's still there but dull ... and comes now about 30 minutes before I have to go potty. The flu thing sucks anyway, but getting it and then having other bowel issues after you are feeling better, the pain involved ... Makes you really freak out when you're pregnant.

Not much on the pregnancy front. Dealing with the flu, sick hubby, hyper kid, and trying to work two jobs (until I give notice ... at the old job). So I'm tired a lot but doing okay. Wondering if baby is feeling the flu too since it hasn't been as wiggly. Owell.

Gotta get kiddo to school and bills mailed. Mwah.

Morning Funny

Kiddo asked me last night why she had to go to bed at 8 every night. "Because you need about 10-12 hours of sleep every night or your body isn't happy." That led to a discussion about rules and how moms and dads have to follow rules, too. (I guess Small Fry told her Sunday that she didn't have a bedtime and had no rules. BAH. In the next breath, Small Fry told Kiddo that she wanted to live with us but wouldn't tell me or her dad that.)

ANYWAY. This morning I went in to get her up at 7 like she asked, and she looked at me and rolled over. When I said, "It's time to get up," she started rubbing her eyes and said, "But my eyes are still sleepy." I laughed and told her to go back to sleep. She slept another 15 minutes and then got up on her own. It was quite cute. hehehe

Growing Up

BAH. I hate this computer.

Kiddo has decided to do a few things on her own this week to a month that she wouldn't have done before. She knows I'm sick and daddy's sick and she needs to help out. She still won't do the dishes or clean her room, but these few things have helped out a lot.

This morning, daddy and I were both sound asleep. She decided to make her own breakfast shake so she wasn't starving. If she's hungry at lunch or after school, she will find something -- if there are lean cuisines in the freezer she likes, she will heat them up. If not, she will look for hot dogs and heat one of those up.

The kicker for me was when I went in her bathroom this morning to refill the soap pump. She'd already done it.

It's kind of sad but also exciting to see her making these leaps in responsibility ... Love her to bits and would give her a hug and tell her so if she wasn't so afraid of getting my germs ...
